There are more mp3 versions of Ave Maria available than the famous Pie Jesu! 

Not being Catholic, I knew little about the origins of the prayer or the different melodies (excuse my ignorance) so was a little confused with the multitude of different versions available.  

Probably the most well known melody is that by Schubert - this composition has been covered by many artists over the years and would probably be the most recognizable to non Catholics.  The other most well known version is by Gounod (overlayed with Bach) which is more traditional.

This version uses the Schubert melody but according to comments found online it has different lyrics to the traditional
(I can not translate into English so can not confirm this personally). 

I would love to hear Helene singing this song in English - so if anyone comes across it, please let me know!
